Common questions
Post-operative physical therapy FAQs
Every procedure has a different timeline. We’ll help you understand what to bring and how to begin safely.
When should I start physical therapy after surgery?+
The appropriate start date depends on your procedure and surgeon’s instructions. Some patients begin within days, while others must wait. Contact us with your surgical information so we can help confirm the next step.
What should I bring to my first appointment?+
Bring your surgeon’s referral or protocol, operative information, medication list, insurance details, and any braces or assistive devices you currently use. Wear clothing that allows the surgical area to be assessed when appropriate.
What surgeries do you commonly treat?+
We provide rehabilitation after many orthopedic procedures, including joint replacement, rotator cuff and shoulder surgery, ACL and meniscus surgery, spine surgery, fracture repair, and tendon or ligament repair. Treatment depends on your surgeon’s guidance.
Will physical therapy communicate with my surgeon?+
When appropriate and authorized, your therapist can follow the surgeon’s protocol and share relevant progress information with your medical team. Bring the correct contact and protocol information to your first visit.
